Hi, we're Gaozim — thanks for trusting us with your deliveries. This page explains, in plain language, what information we collect when you use the Gaozim app or website, why we collect it, and the choices you have — including how to delete it entirely. If anything here isn't clear, just email us at hello@gaozim.com and we'll explain it properly, human to human.

Who we are

Gaozim Technologies Limited ("Gaozim", "we", "us") operates the Gaozim mobile app and gaozim.com — a platform connecting vendors (people and businesses who need something delivered) with carriers (the drivers and riders who pick it up and deliver it), with waybill tracking every step of the way. We're based at 211 Road, 2nd Avenue, Gwarinpa, Abuja, Nigeria.

Information we collect

We only ask for what we actually need to move a package from A to B and keep both sides informed:

  • To create your account: your name, phone number, and — optionally — an email address and profile photo. Vendors also share basic business details (business name, address, business type); carriers share how they get around (foot, bike, motorcycle, car, van, or truck) and a verification document so we can confirm who's picking up parcels.

  • To sign you in: we don't use passwords. Instead we send a one-time verification code to your phone via WhatsApp or SMS. That means your phone number is briefly shared with our messaging partners (Meta's WhatsApp Business platform, or an SMS provider) purely to deliver that code — they don't get anything else about you.

  • To post or fulfil a shipment: sender and receiver names, addresses and phone numbers, a description (and optional photo) of the item, and its declared value. A carrier only ever sees the sender/receiver contact details for shipments actually assigned to them — never anyone else's.

  • To track a delivery: when a carrier updates a shipment's status (picked up, in transit, dropped off, delivered), we may record the location and timestamp of that update, so both the vendor and receiver can see real progress.

  • If something goes wrong: if you raise a dispute or report an issue (a damaged item, a delay, misconduct, or fraud), we keep a record of what you told us and how it was resolved.

  • Ordinary technical data: device type, app version, crash logs and similar diagnostic information that helps us fix bugs — the same kind of thing almost every app collects.

How we use it

Simply put: to actually run the service. That means matching vendors with carriers, showing you accurate shipment status and history, sending you notifications about your own shipments, verifying carrier identities for everyone's safety, looking into disputes fairly, and improving the app based on what's actually breaking or confusing. We don't use your shipment or contact details for advertising, and we don't sell your personal information to anyone — full stop.

Who we share it with

We keep sharing tight and purposeful:

  • The other party in a shipment — a carrier sees the pickup/receiver details for the jobs assigned to them; a vendor sees the carrier's name and contact details once someone is assigned to their shipment.

  • Our messaging and infrastructure partners — WhatsApp/SMS providers (to deliver OTP codes) and our hosting/cloud provider (to keep the servers running), each bound to only use your data to provide that specific service to us.

  • Law enforcement or regulators — only when we're legally required to, or to protect the safety of our users.

  • Anyone else — only with your clear consent, or as part of a business transition (like a merger), in which case we'll let you know first.

How long we keep it

We keep shipment records for as long as reasonably needed for support, disputes, and our own legal/accounting obligations — similar to how a courier keeps a waybill on file. Everything else, we keep only for as long as your account is active, or until you ask us to remove it.

Deleting your data

You're always in control. Open the app and go to Settings → Delete Account to permanently delete your account at any time — no need to email support first, though we're always happy to help if you'd rather do it that way. When you do, we immediately sign you out everywhere, remove your name, email, phone number and photo from our systems, and your account can never be logged into again. We keep a stripped, anonymized record of past shipments (with your personal details removed) only where the other party to that shipment, or the law, requires it — the same way a completed waybill would still exist in a courier's archive even after the sender closes their account.

Keeping it secure

We use industry-standard measures (encrypted connections, hashed passwords/OTPs, access controls on our systems) to protect your information. No system is 100% unbreakable, but we take this seriously and keep improving it.

Children's privacy

Gaozim is a business/logistics tool and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we'll remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll update the "Last Revised" date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app. We encourage checking back here occasionally.
